Food Sober Fundamentals

8 Week Group Program to Kickstart Your Recovery from Food Addiction & Binge Eating

Join a small, supportive group to learn the fundamentals of food addiction recovery,  build confidence and take clear steps towards food peace

Why Food Sober Fundamentals?

Food Sober Fundamentals is a 8-week virtual small group program designed for adults struggling with ultra-processed food addiction and binge eating.

Ultra-processed food addiction (UPFA) is when food is used in a way that’s similar to drugs or alcohol. We may find ourselves constantly thinking about food, feeling driven to eat in compulsive ways, and continuing these behaviours even when they cause harm to our health, wellbeing, or relationships. UPFA often—but not always—occurs alongside binge eating, which is when we eat a very large amount of food in a short period of time and feel unable to stop or control their eating.

While 'food addiction' is not yet an official diagnosis, research estimates that globally around 14% of an adult population and 15% of young people may have food addiction.

It is absolutely possible to recover and thrive!

Am I Food Addicted?

Here are 6 questions from the CRAVED screening tool to help you find out. Thinking about your consumption of ultra-processed foods in the last 12 months

  • Do you ever feel such a strong craving or compulsion for certain foods or drinks that you can't resist the urge to have them?
  • Have you ever noticed that you need larger amounts of these foods or drinks to have the same effect as when you first started consuming them?
  • Have you ever skipped or neglected activities because you were too tired, unwell or preoccupied after having too much ot these foods or drinks?
  • Have you ever eaten or drunk more of these foods or drinks than you intended, on more than one occasion?
  • When cutting back or stopping these foods or drinks, have you experienced withdrawal symptoms (such as headaches, anxiety, low mood, irritability?)
  • Have you continued to consume these foods or drinks even though you or others believe that they may be causing health, relationship or other problems?

Testimonials

I feel that doing the work with Vanessa is the missing piece of the obesity puzzle. I knew I had food addiction.

I had all the information but didn’t know what to do with it. Vanessa guided me and helped me gain the skills I needed. I've found a level of peace with my relationship with food.

I feel confident I will reach my health goals. Vanessa gets it, she understands the struggle, the pain and the shame. It is one of the best decisions I have made.
